Hello everyone! It’s been a little while since I have posted a blog, a lot has been happening in the Johnson household. I didn’t forget about you. I am trying to always figure out how to balance church, work, family and study; plus honor the Lord in everything. I am not the best at it yet but I keep trying to get better. Right now my 2 year old daughter is pulling on my arm wanting me to open a container of honey roasted nuts and give her some.
It’s a busy life but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
One day before I know it they will be off to college or married starting families of their own, and my house will suddenly be quiet. Then I will be longing to hear the noise again and have the distractions. Life moves at break-neck speed so you want to make the most out of every moment because once it’s gone, you can’t get it back.
Now my 5 month old daughter is staring at me, so excuse me while I give her a quick smile and she gives me one back.
I just believe that in heaven when our days are fulfilled on this earth, we will all still be able to sit and fellowship with the children we were blessed to have on the earth. Sharon and I will have a big table. Won’t that be awesome!
I want to say this to you, live your life to give to others. Not being selfish but reaching out to touch people with the love of Christ. You might run into the same people years down the road and what you did to help them will never be forgotten.
There is one scripture that I think about often, that kinda keeps you on your toes in dealing with people you run into during your day. The scripture is found in Hebrews 13:2.
2 Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! (NLT)
Angels can take on the form of humans, we see that many times in the scriptures. They would not announce to you,”Hey I am a angel.” So it makes you stay alert and treat everyone you run into with the highest respect.
Getting back to family business, I have often said you can’t be selfish and have children. Especially a lot of them. You will find out that nothing is yours to keep for yourself. If you buy some food for yourself you will see many little eyes looking at you saying, “I want some,” even though they have plenty of food at home to eat. Even your own bedroom is invaded with a newborn for the first few months of it’s existence. No matter how quiet you try to be, and walking in the dark to find things you need in your bedroom, that newborn wakes up and starts to cry!
It’s all a part of being blessed with a large family. So if you are a selfish ‘me’ person you will have big problems being in a large family.
I will say this, that large families are the heart of God because He is the ultimate example in being selfless. He gave up his only son to die on a cross for a bunch of heathen people that didn’t care one lick about Him. That was all of us at one time in our lives. Now he has gained multi-billions of children across the globe! You talk about a big family! God Almighty has the ultimate big family and he knows and loves everyone of them intimately.
So I encourage you to open up your heart wide (stretch yourself) and see what God will do in your life. You will discover good things in you that you never knew existed. Also don’t forget to treat a stranger well! Happy multiplying!
