The Prognosticators

The Prognosticators

I love the fact that people are always trying to predict and figure out how things are going to go in the future. Some get paid big money to be a prognosticator and tell you how things will turn out. They go on Fox News, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, and give you their expert analysis on any given situation.

We find out in the end that a great majority of their predictions turn out to be wrong.

As we know on election night 2016, every prognosticator said that Hillary Clinton was going to win the Presidency in a landslide. Donald Trump had no possible path to victory. They brought out their charts and expert analysis on Television to show you that Hillary had for sure won the Electoral College tally and by night’s end she would be President.

As the night wore on we saw what happened and Donald Trump became our 45th President of the United States. It was a shocker to many and they all had egg on their faces.

In the 18th Chapter of 2 Kings, the Rabshakeh (sent by the King of Assyria) went up against Jerusalem, Hezekiah was King of Judah at the time. The Rabshakeh became a loud prognosticator against the people of God and told them how they would be defeated in the future. He put fear into the hearts of the people of God.

28 Then the Rabshakeh stood and called out with a loud voice in Hebrew, and spoke, saying, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria! 29 Thus says the king: ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he shall not be able to deliver you from his hand; 30 nor let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, “The Lord will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.” ’ 31 Do not listen to Hezekiah; for thus says the king of Assyria: ‘Make peace with me by a present and come out to me; and every one of you eat from his own vine and every one from his own fig tree, and every one of you drink the waters of his own cistern; 32 until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive groves and honey, that you may live and not die. But do not listen to Hezekiah, lest he persuade you, saying, “The Lord will deliver us.” 2 Kings 18:28 – 32 (NKJV)

The Rabshakeh really was laying it on thick to the children of Israel and demeaning King Hezekiah in front of them. In our day and age he would have appeared on the major news networks prognosticating the defeat of King Hezekiah.

But Hezekiah read the negative letter and went into the house of the Lord and prayed before the Lord God. Here was the final outcome of what the prognosticator had said:

35 And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead. 36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went away, returned home, and remained at Nineveh. 2 Kings 19 :35 – 36 (NKJV)

Wow! No one predicted that outcome, not in a million years! So don’t listen to the naysayers that speak constant defeating words to you. They don’t know what they are talking about! Go to the house of the Lord just like Hezekiah did and pray over your situation and watch God almighty do something you never dreamed!!!
