Well, its been a couple of week since I last posted a blog and a lot has happened in those last two weeks. The biggest thing that happened is my dear mother Katherine Johnson whom I had posted about a couple of post back went home to be with the Lord. She passed away January 29 at 10:43pm in Medina, Ohio. Above is a picture of my mother and my niece.
I had packed up the family in our big white 15 passenger van and we made the grueling 19 hour trip from lower Alabama to Medina, Ohio. I drove all night long and arrived just in time to see my mother a few hours before her passing. Thank Jesus that he kept her alive so I could see her and talk to her on this side of eternity. Also that my 7 children and wife were able to see her also before she changed residence.
I was thinking about it lately that death is so final. Someone that you have know all your life and shared many moments with is suddenly abruptly gone. My mother was 94 years old but its still so abrupt.
It makes me realize to make the most of every moment we have with people. The word of God says this in Psalms 90:10 (ESV)
10 The days of our lives are seventy years;
And if by reason of strength they are eighty years,
Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow;
For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
My mother lived way past that time frame and longevity runs in our family but I want to state a fact to you, that death is really an enemy its not a friend. I Corinthians 15:26
The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
Death should not be viewed as a natural course of life. It should be viewed as a ENEMY!
Before the fall of man in the book of Genesis death was never mentioned. It wasn’t until the fall of man, Genesis third chapter, that death was mentioned. Some men lived even after that 900 years before they died physically, and by the way that was literally 900 years as we know years today!
God is very pro-life for sure we see it in the example of Jesus who went about raising the dead during his earthly ministry and teaching his disciples to do the same.
One day, we all will see that last enemy be destroyed which is death. I don’t know about you but I will be shouting, dancing and rejoicing when I see with my own eyes death being destroyed. It will be time to celebrate. I am looking forward to it!!! Until then you continue to be pro-life and be strong in the Lord.
