When people truly love God it shows in everything they do. I love to be around people like that because you feel so encouraged and uplifted when you leave their presence. You sense that they truly care about you and want the best for you.
You and I know it’s not that way with the majority of people you meet and even spend time with at work or play.
I often wonder what it would have been like to be one of the disciples and hang out with Jesus both day and night. I am sure it was so uplifting to be in His presence, hearing the words He spoke on a daily basis. You understand we just have a small amount of things He did recorded in the scriptures. He did so many amazing things in his earthly ministry that it shocked the people around him.
How about walking with Him when a funeral procession was approaching. In Luke 7:11 – 17;
11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.
16 Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.” 17 And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region. (NKJV)
We see people were carrying a dead man out of the city of Nain. He was the only son of his mother. Jesus literally stopped the funeral procession showed compassion to the mother and raised that man from the dead. I am sure besides the other recorded instances we have in the scriptures he did that many, many more times. Jesus is pro-life!
Like it is when someone is great and making history you never see the greatness and realize who was in your presence until they are gone. So on some level I believe it was that way with Jesus. His disciples and great crowds around him knew he was special but to what degree they really grasped his greatness we really don’t know.
Jesus’ main mission was to stay in love with Father God first and everything else flowed from that relationship. His level of love and fellowship with the Father produced what to the world looked strange and amazing. But it was the correct behavior of a man that was deeply in love with God Almighty.
Your walk as a believer in Jesus Christ will only be as effective as your love level with Him.
Remember it’s not about the numbers or a outward show, Noah only had eight converts but God said he was righteous, and he was picked along with his family to start the new world.
Folks, that should be our goal (to increase our love for Him) if you claim to be a believer in Jesus. Your life should exemplify a strangeness to the world, that you are marching to a different tune. It’s a tune that has the chords of love for God the Father! People will love to be around you. You will do strange and amazing things.
