There’s a fresh new word that’s coming from the Lord God Almighty to those who claim to be His Church today.
That word is, “repent” and come clean before God.
You thought I was going to say something nice and fluffy didn’t you? No. It’s time out for that!
Before the second coming of Jesus, God is calling on the current Church to repent from the things that are separating them from God and to draw near to Him. Every teaching that comes from the pulpits across America should be designed to bring you more in love with Jesus.
Take an inventory of the sermons that you hear on Sunday morning and Wednesday night. Those sermons should tug at your heart to expose sin in your life, which causes repentance and draws you closer to Jesus. If they don’t do either of those two things, they are useless and a waste of your precious time.
We are approaching the Second Coming of Jesus and there will be a repeat of some things that happened in the first coming of Jesus.
In the first coming:
God used a simple man that wasn’t flashy, didn’t have thousands of dollars backing him, didn’t have a slick advertising campaign and didn’t have the backing of any religious establishment of his time.
His clothes were not the latest styles of the day, as a matter of fact he was clothed with camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist. Much unlike the Sadducees, Essenes, and Pharisees, who wore a beautiful head dress, long flowing robes made of high quality material, bright colors and tassels at the bottom.
The Bible makes a point to tell us what John also ate. It wasn’t the top delicacies of his day like the religious establishment ate. John the Baptist ate locusts and wild honey. Yet, he was God Almighty’s mouth piece to fulfill an eternal task.
His message was a message of great importance preparing or laying the ground work for Jesus to fulfill His work.
Here was his resume:
3 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” Matthew 3:1-2 (NKJV)
Many people came to John to be baptized by him and they had done exactly what he was preaching, they repented of there sins and many were religious people.
Even those well dressed Sadducees, Essenes, and Pharisees came to the wilderness to check out John the Baptist. John had a word for them and it wasn’t welcoming. He called them out by labeling them in front of everyone as a “Generation of Vipers” and asked them who told them to flee from the wrath to come.
Then he said something interesting, he called on them to bring forth fruit that shows they were willing to truly repent. John had no faith in them that they were serious about truly repenting.
You must picture this because it’s important for you to see how this transpired, I believe it will repeat itself in our day and age.
These men that came out to his baptism were the top religious leaders in the world of John and Jesus’ day. They were probably well known to the common people that were there in attendance. But John boldly by the Spirit of God saw through there hypocrisies and demanded they show they were really serious about repenting, wow!
Before the Second Coming of Jesus, God will raise up someone and others will follow with the same message of repentance. The current religious world will buck at them and not accept them because they won’t fit their mold. They will be hard on the religious people just as John the Baptist was, but as sure as my name is Ricardo Johnson, they will be the true authentic mouth pieces of God speaking a strong word of repentance and cleansing.
Those who heed the word and truly repent from their hearts will enjoy God’s favor and will make it to heaven. Those that reject will suffer separation from God and go to hell. It’s just that simple folks. Which side will you be on?
