“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God?
That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever…”

Thomas Jefferson April 13, 1743 – July 4th 1826
Thomas Jefferson was the third president of The United States of America. A lawyer by trade, he drafted and signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. He also made the acquisition of the Louisiana Purchase. While living in the White House he was known to keep gardening tools in his office, so he could step out and tend the garden he kept on what is now the mansion’s south lawn. He ironically died on the 4th of July, Independence Day.
