When a new company, business or enterprise starts up they are looking for one main thing, employees. Not just any employees, but they are looking for the best employees that can make their company go right from the beginning! The leadership pours through resumes to recruit the top qualified candidates. Then they even narrow down their search till they get the cream of the crop.
Sounds like a recipe for sure success doesn’t it?
Well, while I was doing my daily devotions this week God reminded me once again how his ways of doing things are so different from the world’s ways of doing things. Case in point, the story of King David in the scriptures, and how he started his enterprise called the Kingdom of Israel.
Let’s give you some background on the story so you can see where I am coming from.
David was on the run from King Saul because Saul was trying to kill him. Saul was jealous over David because he could see God’s hand upon the lad’s life and knew that eventually he would be King over Israel.
We pick up the story in I Samuel 22 where David had escaped from Saul to the cave Adullam. His immediate family members found out where he was and went to be by his side. At this point, David began his enterprise of being the King of Israel, even though it would not come to fruition until some time later. His first employees came to him there at the cave Adullam. The word of God gives a description of his first employees in I Samuel 22:2, it says they were men that were in distress, in debt, and discontented! Wow four hundred men came to him in that condition and that was the beginning of his Kingdom.
Now, you know top job recruiters and career coaches of our current day would tell David he was doomed for failure from the beginning because of the people he started his enterprise with.
But to make a long story short these same men, that were in distress, in debt and discontented became in the end great and might men of valor!
One of them lifted up his spear against eight hundred who he slew at one time.
Another took on the whole army of the Philistines by himself and won the battle!
Another fought the Philistines that were gathered together in a field of lentils, and beat the whole troop by himself.
What happened to those men that were in distress, in debt, and discontented?
GOD HAPPENED TO THEM!
When God’s anointing is upon an individual, he can change them to Superman and they can accomplish things they never thought possible! God can and will do the same for you.
So if you are in distress, in debt, and discontented get ready, you are about to be changed into another man!
