Let God Do His Business

Let God Do His Business

How many of you have recently been praying about a situation in your life? Please raise your hands.

Looks like every hand is raised so let’s talk about it.

One thing that I have noticed is that we as believers, (myself included) have in our minds a picture of how God is going to work out the situation we have been praying about. We by nature are creatures of habit and when God has met a need in the past a certain way through prayer, we think that’s how He will do it every time.

How do you think the different denominations got started, but I digress.

GOD WILL NOT BE PUT IN YOUR BOX!

He will not be put in anyone’s box as far as that goes.

We also have a tendency to want God to answer our prayers in a supernatural, spectacular way. It reminds me of the story of Naaman in II Kings Chapter 5.

For those of you who don’t recall the story, Naaman was a high official to the King of Syria, but he had a problem, he was a leper. Naaman was sent to Elisha the prophet of God to receive healing from his leprosy. He arrived at Elisha’s door with an entourage of people thinking that Elisha would do something supernatural or spectacular for him to receive his healing. Naaman, just like us had in his mind how God was going to heal him.

Elisha the prophet of God sent someone else to the door to address this great official, which was a big hit to his ego. This messenger told Naaman to go wash in the Jordan river seven times and he would be healed. That’s not how Naaman envisioned himself being healed. He even said out of his own mouth that he thought the prophet of God would come out to him and do something supernatural and spectacular to heal him. So he was angry and went away from the door, but Naaman’s own servant talked some sense into him and he did what the messenger at the door told him to do and was healed!

How about you, is God prompting you to see the supernatural and spectacular in what may seem ordinary?

I encourage you in the future when you pray in faith about a situation in your life, trust God, but leave the details and the way God wants to do it up to Him. It frees you up and it frees God up to bless you greatly.

1 Kings 19:11-12  (NKJV)
God’s Revelation to Elijah
11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
