Shhhh Quiet!

Shhhh Quiet!

There is something special about quietness that just makes your body relax and helps you to take perspective of everything. I notice it when I am up early in the morning hours, when I enter into my prayer closet. The house is calm and quiet, kids and wife are asleep, and it’s just the stillness of that hour with the Lord that is simply awesome!

During our busy days in life there a lot of noise that we encounter, from our alarm clocks waking us up, to the sound of the water in the shower, to the cooking of breakfast, talking with family, getting in the car turning on the radio, getting to work etc. I find myself getting more and more leery of the loud vivacious people and the noise in life, and rather pursuing the quietness and calmness that only God Almighty gives.

It’s that inner peace that rushes over your soul in the midst of chaos all around you!

God spoke personally, and gave a strong warning like He did many times to the children of Israel on the subject of quietness.

“ For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,” Isaiah 30:15 (NKJV).

He reminded them that their strength and confidence was not in who could make the most noise, draw attention to themselves, or a race to see who could have the biggest impact, but their strength and confidence was in quietness. We see that they refused the quietness in Him and it led to their ruin.

Folks, I think this is a clear God word to our generation, shake off the loud and boisterous claims of our generation whoever or whatever it may be. In the days to come that quiet confidence in the Lord will be your saving grace and raise you above everyone else around!

So get busy getting quiet before the Lord and watch what God does!

  1. Wonderful post! We live in a world where we are made to feel lazy if we are not constantly on the move, making “noise.” Thank you for reminding us that we need that quiet time with God every day! Merry Christmas!
